Recently I happened on to an obscure posting on an almost defunct and certainly deserted forum in which an individual had posted the names of people buried in an old cemetery in their area of Mississippi.
By that one random act from way back in the year 2000 and with the power of the search engine, I have been blessed with finding the burial sites for more than 18 people in my family tree.
I'm not certain why that posting never came up before when I "googled" them, but there ya go. Instant happiness for me.
So, I say all of this to make a point. Each one of us knows something about our family or family history or perhaps just knows where some of the family is buried. Please record it somewhere. You never know who it might help.... maybe your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren...
While I'm on the topic of recording history, I'd like to say a few words about www.findagrave.com
This site is an amazing tool for researchers as well as a lovely place to make your family memorials so that loved ones can always stop by and pay their respects.
Happy Hunting... and Recording.
